Mixtab aimed to make RSS beautiful and accessible. Users could organize feeds into topic-based tabs, and a Tab Gallery let non-technical users subscribe to community-curated tabs with a single click.
I designed and built the user interface of the app, which Apple featured on the Mac App Store homepage numerous times and held the #1 spot in News for over a year.

Managing RSS feeds is messy, and it's hard to keep tabs on everything. Even when feeds cover the same topic, updates stay siloed, so you end up tracking sources one by one.
Represent topics as tabs that aggregate multiple RSS feeds on a single topic in one place.
Users can now enjoy reading by topic instead of managing individual feeds.

RSS is powerful but confusing for many non-technical users.
Let users share tabs publicly and provide a gallery where anyone can discover tabs across many topics.
Made RSS approachable and enabled community-driven discovery.

Desktop reading apps can feel static without motion cues.
Use tasteful animations and natural gestures to make navigation delightful.
Delivered a smooth, engaging experience that users loved and praised.
